Re:generation for Students is a semester-long program offered in 12-week sessions with defined start and end dates. While the adult Re:generation program may last around a year, the student program provides a shorter, age-appropriate introduction to the biblical steps of healing God gives us through the Bible. 

TESTIMONY AND TEACHING (30 MINUTES) 
Churches that use a ministry night model typically begin with a testimony from a Step Group Leader or former participant, followed by a teaching time that introduces and explains one of the biblical steps of healing God gives us through the Bible. Churches that use a small group study model do not include a designated teaching or testimony time. Instead, they focus primarily on group discussion of the curriculum. 

STEP GROUPS (60-90 MINUTES) 
Step Groups are organized by age and gender and include up to eight students, led by two adult Step Group Leaders. During Step Group, participants discuss what they are learning through their book work, along with any challenges or questions they are facing. Each group provides a place where students can be known, accepted, and encouraged as they continue taking steps toward healing. 

BOOK WORK 
Throughout the week, participants complete three curriculum lessons and one “footprint,” which serves as a marker of their progress toward healing. Each lesson takes about 10 minutes and is designed to help students understand and practice the biblical steps of healing God gives us through the Bible. Also, lessons include an encouraging written testimony from a former participant. As an additional resource, “issue sheets” are available to help students learn more about specific struggles. 

All small groups are organized by gender and age, but not by specific struggle. Mixed-struggle groups help participants focus on the deeper spiritual brokenness and heart transformation behind their struggles. They also equip leaders to provide biblical counsel across a variety of struggles, helping them become more effective ministers of the gospel in every sphere of influence. 

Step Groups typically have a four-to-one participant-to-leader ratio. Groups are formed during ministry registration and are closed to new participants once they begin. Within their Step Group, participants receive support from their leaders and accountability from their peers. A Step Group usually takes about 12 weeks to complete the biblical steps of healing. 

The program is led by a committed team of local church members who have completed Re:generation, or have spent time serving within their local student ministry. Re:generation for Students requires all potential leaders who have expressed interest in working with students to complete the following steps before placement as a Step Group leader: 

Step One: Screening Process
Leaders are required to complete an online application (with references) followed by a face-to-face interview. A leader must meet the local church's requirements for leadership before being eligible to serve in positions that provide access to students. 

Step Two: Criminal Background Check 
All leaders wishing to serve in Re:generation for Students must undergo a criminal background check. 

Step Three: Policies & Procedures 
Leaders are required to review Re:generation for Students' safety policies and procedures (along with any local church requirements for leadership) and sign a statement of acknowledgment and agreement indicating that they have read and understood the material and agree to comply with the policy. 

Students are required to bring at least one parent or trusted adult to the first meeting. During this orientation meeting, best practices for supporting a student going through this program will be discussed. Local ministries may provide additional copies of the curriculum, which parents or guardians can purchase to follow along and encourage students as they engage in the work of recovery.

This program does not promise a quick fix. Students who fully engage with the curriculum should expect to learn about love, goodness, and the power of God, and how to—over the span of a lifetime—daily walk the steps of healing given to us by God through the Bible.

This program does not provide licensed professional counselors, psychologists, clinical diagnoses, therapies, treatments, or referrals. Students who fully engage with the curriculum can expect to discover that biblical, Christ-centered discipleship and community are foundational to healing and recovery. 

This program is not committed to strict confidentiality or anonymity. Students who participate should expect the church to follow the Bible’s guidance in caring for them and to take action as advocates for their healing, health, and safety. 

We will notify the appropriate authorities (parent or guardian, law enforcement, etc.) immediately if we have any suspicion that a student is facing imminent danger or demonstrates a pattern of behavior that could endanger them in the future. (Matthew 18:5-6, Proverbs 31:8) 

As required by law, we will report any allegations or suspicions of abuse or neglect to state law enforcement and protective services. (Romans 13:1) 

We will encourage students to submit to the authority of Scripture and to share with others in the body of Christ as the Bible directs. For example, biblical practices like confession and making amends will call students to engage in conversations with people outside this program.
